The heater on my ZX has just stopped blowing hot air.

I have seen the prevous posts regarding heater matrix failure but I have no leaks in the cockpit or engine comparment.

Also, the cooling system is overheating very quickly which I have not seen mentioned on the other posts.

Am I looking at a new matrix and all that involves or is there a blockage in the system?

If the latter, advice on shifting it would be gratefully received.

Hi Twynham.

It sounds to me as though your water pump has failed. It is possible that the impeller has come loose on the shaft and is not pumping the water round the system. Either that, or your cooling system has sprung a leak and become "airlocked". Either way, it needs investigating. If you haven't lost any coolant, suspect the pump. This is driven from the cambelt and if it's the culprit you may as well change the belt and tensioner idler at the same time.

Hope this helps. :D

Hi Colin,

Thanks for that, it looks like it's the thermostat which is a big relief.

Cheers,

Les.

Are you sure it's the thermostat? if it was only this - the heater should have keep working properly, since water still going through.

Are you using tap water in the cooling system or coolant ?
