Guest c5vtr Posted April 21, 2008 Posted April 21, 2008 evening all Nov 03 C5 Vtr 95k £450 parts and labour timing belt and tensioner kitfan belt and associated partstwo front droplinks, cured rat a tat tat at low speeds over bumpswater pump, on its way out and replacedall associated filtersengine oilLDM in the region of 12ltrs to full (i think thats correct, full now anyways)brand new anti freeze disposal of toxic waste from aboveEcu check and read out......there may be more but can't remember .........for those Belfast members, top of the Lylehill Road going out of Templepatrick Ecu pointed to injectors being out of tolerance, currently adding Millars as i fill her up to see if we can't clear that before investing in new injectors i've reported before that my MPG is around the 34/35 mark going up to 37 ish on a longish run to Cavan recently. So a couple of questions Is the injector issue really adding that much fuel to my poor fuel economy and should i see it come good in time? Will the service to the likes of the timing belt etc improve things also. And, this is a long shot, is the fact i have a boot spoiler also a drag literally. I mean i've no more bhp than a normal 2.0 hdi shouldn't the economy be better..... i'll be honest and say i'm working off the trip computers figures here. cheers all Quote
Randombloke Posted April 21, 2008 Posted April 21, 2008 Ecu pointed to injectors being out of tolerance, currently adding Millars as i fill her up to see if we can't clear that before investing in new injectors I have looked into new injectors and apparently they are awesomely expensive. I've been quoted £600-£1000 a set, but I have not looked around. If you do get any quotes for replacements please post here. I would check the trip computer by doing some tank to tank refills. I would also ask you about the spoiler, Citroen OE or aftermarket? If aftermarket, I would be suspicious. I know how crap the fuel economy is on my C5 with any kind of roof rack or load on the rack. Quote

The boot spoiler is factory fitted so perhaps little i can do there.......... anything else about the service or fuel economy? Quote

Contact GSF for prices - they are much cheaper than the dealers for most things. Quote

Any idea of how good the recon injectors are compared to new? Recon injectors in my first old shite BX at 125,000 miles made a hell of a difference. About to do same on shite old 406 with 2.1 XUD engine, at 143,000 miles. Will need to do same on C5 sometime in next 3 years. Quote
