citroen xsara hdi 2.0 diesel w reg hatch

 

its in the engine bay central

to the right of the power steering

 

its got diesel in it

 

two pipes coming off the top

i broke one off

 

what do i ask for when buying new?

 

is it some kind of diesel filter?

 

the top screws off when pipes detatched

does not go to anything.its the drain pipe. it hangs down the front of the gearbox. just stops diesel going all over the engine when when you drain the filter.

Sorry to butt in on this post (but I am sure original posted will need this advice as well)

 

How hard is it to change the diesel filter - I did it on a ZX once 1.9TD, just reprimed with the bulb tool, but the 2.0 HDI does not have one of those?

2.0 HDi is self priming if I remember right, - it uses the electric pump in the tank to fill the system untill it cuts out on pressure control.

Oh yes it does..................Oh no it doesn't....................Oh yes it - well ours does. I used it just last week when I changed the filter. Press down the inserts on the two pipes and disconnect. Likewise with the electric connector. Use a wrench to spin off the ring and lift off the top. Lift out the old cartridge, empty the bowl and clean out sediment. Fit new cartridge and ring and replace the top. A few squeezes on the primer and away it goes.
