thenads Posted May 30, 2005 Posted May 30, 2005 I've got a 3 door P-reg citroen ax 1.0 fitted with a clifford alarm. I just purchased a central locking kit which can then be connected to the alarm to give me central locking from the remote. I've searched all over the internet trying to find how to remove the door cards but have had no luck! I got the handle and winder off ok but there are clips holding the door card in and I don't wanna just rip it off and damage it. Anyone got had any experience of taking these off? Cheers, Si Quote
truemouse Posted May 30, 2005 Posted May 30, 2005 Gently prise them off with a butterknife. Everyone's toolkit should have one of these. Put down a non-abrasive rag over the metal to avoid scratching. You'll also find there's a polythene layer stuck onto the metalwork of the door under the door card. If you remove it, replace it with another polythene layer. This really does help to baffle the road noise. Alternatively since you're obviously going to go for other mods such as ICE, try just spraing the inside of the door (With the window up or out) with a sound insulation foam. Feel for the clips. If you break the clips, don't get too uptight. You can go to your friendly Citroen parts store and get a bag of them, or failing this, just pop along to your nearest car accesory store, most of these clips are interchangeable. Quote
thenads Posted June 5, 2005 Author Posted June 5, 2005 cheers... easy when you know how! Think this little project may have come to an abrupt end though... it appears the door locking rod isn't very accesible from inside the door... certainly not enough to connect the rod from a door locking motor to it! Have you personally ever, or know anyone else who has sucesfully fitted central locking to an ax?! Quote

Definition of central locking in a 3-door : "I can sit in the driver's seat and reach both doors." More hassle than it's really worth. Quote
Chris570ax Posted June 23, 2005 Posted June 23, 2005 Hiya I know the fun you must be having....... I've fitted central locking to my AX I find the best (and only way if you want the thing to continue to work) is to drop the door lock out so it is inside the door and then you should be able to get at everything you will need. I fitted mine 2 months ago and it is still working. A few tips though, make sure you set the rods at the right height because if u set them in the wrong place you wont be able to lock the door (been there, done that) and also once u are happy that the settings are correct apply some araldite to secure the rods together because otherwise they will slip off after a short time. If you are unsure about anything else on your AX I'm sure i can at least give you a helping hand. E-mail me at admin@lyjo.co.uk Quote
