Xantia 2.0Tdi Diesel

My remote & central locking is currently broken, (short circuit down to earting problem i think)

But any help in opening boot diesel cap would be appreciated, as i have no idea how to?

Is there away round this problem, unlocking either front door with key just unlocks individual door?

Help, Will

Hi Will.

The fuel cap door is locked with a small shoot bolt type solenoid which extends and locks the flap when the central locking is activated, and vice versa. It does this by having voltage applied in either direction. If you can gain access to the wires and plug of the locking bolt you should be able to cause it to open by applying battery voltage accross it. You'll then be able to leave it disconnected until you get to the bottom of your other electrical issues, Have a look where the wires go through into the doors/boot. they may have become broken or chafed there with years of opening & closing

Cheers Hope this helps. :P

Cheers, Colin.

This electrics problem is driving me crazy.

As much as i hate to do it i might have to seek a professional for the underlying problem.

Hi Will,

I've lost a load of electrics on my 1998 1.9TD SX. I opened the filler cap by putting a thin bladed screwdriver in the gap by the solenoid bolt and managing to move the shoot bolt back in stages, it took just a few seconds. Now the filler cap stays un-locked.

You dont say how old it is but you could try checking the large maxi fuse in the engine bay 'fuse D' and also check for power at fuses 25, 15 & 2 in the cabin fuse box, also make sure the shunt fuse is in the correct position or hasnt fallen out.....the shunt fuse will have the letters 'SH' on it.
