Wolfie Posted May 7, 2008 Posted May 7, 2008 I have just noticed under my drivers headlight there is an electric plug flapping about not plugged into anything. I have traced it and it is clipped to a wireing loom that goes along the bumper across the car. Any ideas what it could be? Everything on the car works fine except the dashboard backlights. Any ideas on the dash lights would be nice too it is not a fuse they are all fine. Thanks. Quote
Guest Colin Hunter Posted May 7, 2008 Posted May 7, 2008 Hi There. Does your car have standard front foglamps? if not then it's probably for those. If you do have foglamps then I've no idea! As for the Dash lights, Make sure the rheostat (Dimmer) is not turned right down. My son inadvertently tuned his down and thought the dash lights had blown. Cheers Hope this helps. Quote
Wolfie Posted May 12, 2008 Author Posted May 12, 2008 Thanks for the help that is what it was the fog lights. Also no luck with the lights the dimmer switch has no affect so any ideas are welcome. Cheers Quote
Guest Colin Hunter Posted May 13, 2008 Posted May 13, 2008 Hi Agian. If that's the case then it would appear that the panel lights have blown. This means removing the instrument cluster in order to change them and seems to be a job not for the faint hearted according to Mr Haynes. If you don't have a manual you can get one from Halfords or some such or you could ask for instructions as to how to go about it at your local dealers. They may be able to give you a printout of the procedure. Cheers Hope this helps. :D Quote
Shemer Posted June 26, 2008 Posted June 26, 2008 Before taking the instrument panel off, try the following:.Do you have lights in the console area (i.e - where the heater/blower controls are) ? If no lights - Try to take the dimmer out of it's place, and make a short between both wires. This should eliminate the dimmer, and give you normal light. In this case - you'll have to replcae the dimmer itself. Else - follow Colin's instruction regarding the instrument panel. Quote
