TheCatsC5 Posted May 14, 2008 Posted May 14, 2008 I haven't seen reference to the this problem anywhere else on the forum, but apologies in advance if i'm going over old ground. My C5 (2004, HDi, VTR, Estate) has started to show an unwanted windscreen wiper feature. Automatic Wiping becomes active even when stalk is in the "off" position. As it has been dry recently this results in a single wipe, then another a few moments later (say after about a minute). So far this has happened twice but in the following scenario: Car not used over weekend1st engine start, Monday am - problem occurred, drove about a mile and stopped engine.2nd engine start, Monday am - problem occurred, drove about a mile and stopped engine.3rd engine start, Monday am - problem not seen drove about 4 miles and stopped engine.4th engine start, Monday pm - problem not seen drove about 1 mile and stopped engine.5th engine start, Monday am - problem not seen drove about 4 miles and stopped engine.6th engine start,Monday am - problem not seen drove about 1 mile and stopped engine. Car not used on Tuessday 1st engine start, Wednesday am - problem occurred, drove about 2.5 miles and stopped engine.2nd engine start, Wednesday am - problem occurred while engine running on garage forecourt, then stopped engine.3rd engine start, Wednesday am - problem not seen drove about 2 miles and stopped engine. Is likely to be a problem within the wiper stalk that takes time to "go away" - say some sort of intermittent earth fault? Last week I had a single incident of an airbag warning error, but that cleared after restarting the engine and has not come back. The light sensor works with the headlights correctly. Quote

Might be solved by cleaning the tracks, might not. Techs, your comments please. (Don't clean the tracks without comments from real Citroen techs). COM 2000 unit pricey. Quote
TheCatsC5 Posted May 29, 2008 Author Posted May 29, 2008 It has been looked at by the local Citroen dealer - it was the COM2000 unit. Diagnosis, new COM2000 unit and fitting of the unit for £246 (incl VAT). Work being done as I type. I hope that is the end of it! I'd like to think I've got at least 12 months of warranty on the new unit. Does any one known if the COM2000 units are getting any more or any less reliable? Quote
