Guest emy12 Posted May 26, 2008 Posted May 26, 2008 Hi everyone. I have an Citroen 1.4i I noticed a wired noise coming out from the engine, i think. When i accelerate and suddenly release it i can here it. Could be from a ptston?Someone told me that is the connecting rod. thanks Quote
Guest emy12 Posted July 31, 2008 Posted July 31, 2008 Found what is the problem with the engine s noise. The bottom engine mount is gone and both wishbone arms are gone. The dealer put me a price a little bit too high. First said around 350 euros and after 567 euros. Too much. Engine mount 84 euros and the arms 85 each. Just a question it is difficult to change by yourself? The arms i think are not so difficult to change but the engine mount which i do not know where is located, under engine normal, will be more difficult. The arms are fitted with new ball joint? Quote
techbod Posted August 1, 2008 Posted August 1, 2008 not that big of a job really if you have the tools but expect some of the bolts to be hard if not impossible to remove because of excess rust and they snap ( not sure if you will get new bolts over there but you don't here ), engine mount is simple enough find out which one it is the jack the front of the car off the ground and place on axle stands then put a jack under the engine to take the weight while you change the mount Quote
Guest emy12 Posted August 7, 2008 Posted August 7, 2008 http://www.postimage.org/image.php?v=aV1Ies5S Thanks for the help. I ve changed the arms and lower ball joints as well. The bolts were perfect no rost whatsoever, i reused them( in manual said to put a new ones but the old once were ok). But as the image above , what is "Swivel hob clampis aligned to the lug " marked through arrow, because i did not see it. I just put the ball joint and tighten the clamp bolt.It is important?thanks Quote
Guest Colin Hunter Posted August 8, 2008 Posted August 8, 2008 The bolt and "Lug" you have supplied the picture of is the one which clamps the swivel hub assemly onto the lower end of the suspension strut. The "lug" is merely a raised nipple on the strut body which aligns with the gap in the hub when you assemble it. You shouldn't need to take this part off to change the lower ball joints or wishbone bushes though. Cheers. ;) Quote
Guest emy12 Posted August 9, 2008 Posted August 9, 2008 Thanks for answer, Colin.I did not take it apart, i just saw it in the picture and i thought that i miss s'thing. Just changed the bal joint and tighten it. Quote
