Tjc_Leeds Posted May 30, 2008 Posted May 30, 2008 Help, I have a 1.8 LX (2001). My dipped beam headlights are not working but all other lights are ok. I guess this points to it being a fuse but I have heard that there is more than one fusebox. Can anyone tell me which fuse number is for the dipped beam, and is this in the glove box or somewhere else? Quote
Randombloke Posted May 30, 2008 Posted May 30, 2008 I have a 1.8 LX (2001). My dipped beam headlights are not working but all other lights are ok. I guess this points to it being a fuse but I have heard that there is more than one fusebox. Can anyone tell me which fuse number is for the dipped beam, and is this in the glove box or somewhere else? I have a 2.2 HDi. The manual says the headlights are governed by the fuses F9-F12 (9/10 = L/R dip, 11/12 L/R main) in the main fuse box in the engine compartment. Do not confuse these fuses with the Maxi Fuses, very high current, also in the engine bay. You will also find 2 fuse boxes in the glove box behind the flap. It may be a relay problem in your car as the right and left headlights have separate fuses. HTH. Quote
old'uns Posted May 30, 2008 Posted May 30, 2008 don't rule out blown bulbs, think i'm on 3rd or 4th each side, never had a fuse go yet Quote
Ronin Posted May 31, 2008 Posted May 31, 2008 I would say that it was bulbs. It happened to me the same way. Citroen have a habit of making sure when one goes so does the other at the same time. Maybe its a safety issue that makes you realize instead of running around with just one headlight on. How many times have we seen that on the roads. On the other hand though if it is meant to be that way its also bloody dangerous on a country lane in mid bend! Quote
Tjc_Leeds Posted May 31, 2008 Author Posted May 31, 2008 Thanks to "Randombloke", "Old'uns"and "Ronin" for advice. Problem solved. It was wrong to assume that both bulbs wouldn't blow at the same time. I now know where that second fuse box is and all fuses were intact. I located the relays and could here them clicking when the switch was thrown, so it was into the back of the light cluster to check out the bulbs. Sure enough they had both blown. Cheers Quote
ivarh Posted August 10, 2015 Posted August 10, 2015 Hi! I had this problem on my 2002 C5, and the solution was to replace the relay for the dipped head beam lights. The relay has the following model: 51ND10-W1, and it located on the Printed Circuit Board sitting just next to the battery. You have to open the cover next to the battery, disconnect all the cables from the PCB and remove the PCB (disconnecting the nut holding 2 cables). The relay is soldered onto the Board (5 pins). It is tricky to remove because it is glued onto the Board as well. (You have to use a knife to cut the plastic, and also use some more force than you really want to, to get it of..)You find the relay by looking next to the fuses for the light in question. I soldered a new relay onto the Board, and the bulbs lit again :) Total cost: $10 + some workmanship.. I have photos, but weren't able to add them here. If you contact me via the forum, we'll find a way to deliver them.. Quote
