nikki0002 Posted June 5, 2008 Posted June 5, 2008 Hi, My uncle died xmas last year, and ever since then we have been trying to get his old xantia to start. Having only recently clocked onto the fact that it has a keypad immobiliser I was wondering if anyone knew how, or how I would go about, getting it unlocked?? Thanks! Nikki Quote
kfk Posted June 5, 2008 Posted June 5, 2008 If your really lucky he never changed it.....in which case it might be '1111'. If that doesnt work it might be worth finding out if he had it serviced at a garage.....if your really lucky someone might have written it on a job card. Another favourite for the older generation is the year of birth or maybe wifes birth....did he have passwords for anything else....any clues there ? Quote
Guest Colin Hunter Posted June 6, 2008 Posted June 6, 2008 Question for KFK. Is it possible to plug in a keypad for which you know the code and use it to start the car, or is it paired in some way to another component? If it's a diesel , could this other keypad be used once and then removed? I know many people here in Shetland who unplug them once the engine is running but I think it only works fr diesels. Is this correct? Cheers. Quote
kfk Posted June 6, 2008 Posted June 6, 2008 If the engine is running its possible to remove the keypad on either diesel or petrol models.....the problem only occurs when someone in the futire plugs it back in and doesnt know the code.....they then have the problem nikki has in the original post. Guest Colin Hunter Posted June 9, 2008 Posted June 9, 2008 Hi KFK. Thanks for the reply, but that wasn't exactly what I meant. Say MY car won't start because the keypad code is lost. Could I borrow the keypad from YOUR car, which you know the code for, start my car, unplug your keypad and give it back to you. Or is that not feasible because the keypad is "Paired" to it's own system? It's something that's intigued me for a while. Cheers  Quote
kfk Posted June 9, 2008 Posted June 9, 2008 No you cant do that, the code is locked in the fuel injection ecu, the keypad is just the means with which to enter it. Quote
Guest Colin Hunter Posted June 10, 2008 Posted June 10, 2008 OK! Cheers for that. Too clever for it's own good then! I understand that the diesels have some kind of tamperproof arrangement on the pump so that if you try to remove the interface you will wreck the pump? Is that also true? Cheers Quote
kfk Posted June 10, 2008 Posted June 10, 2008 if the immobilizer is removed from the pump body it is possible that the inner pump seals can be come dislodged, this in turn can allow the pump to draw in air.....not a good position to be in. It is possible to grind through the imobilizer casing and by pass the immobilizer circuit, takes a bit of time but can be done. Quote
red_dwarfers Posted June 13, 2008 Posted June 13, 2008 If you do go down the pump stripping route, heres a guide on repairing the seals but it does guide on removing the armour:Guide bosch pump Quote
