I have a Xantia TD 1.9, last year for the mot, I needed to get a new ECU for the ABS. (ABS light was staying on after start up). It cost me £170 from a back street auto electrition, 3 months down the road the light was back on again... I'm very reluctant to go back to the said electrition. Does anyone know where i can get a second hand 1?

It may well be due to a faulty sensor, whereabouts are you as I could do a fault code reading for you if you are anywhere near West London.

Alternatively I'll post a way of testing the sensors with an OHM meter.

If you really do need another ECU then I do have one, however there are a couple of different types.

Cheers for the offer, but I'm in Bournemouth.
Had a diagnostic check done by my local citroen garage today, not bad for the peace of mind and £30. Turns out that its as you said, F/O/S and R/O/S wheel sensors.
Don't supose you have any of those, or know where I could get any reasonable used spares?
Many thanks.

I do have a rear one but its still on the arm and they are difficult to remove without damaging them. I'll have a look and see what I can do.

Has the dealer cleared the ABS light?

If so, has it come on again?

It may be that the 'castleations' around the hubs and the sensors require cleaning as two are showing up as having faults.

New front ones are around £70 and rear £60 from GSF.

Alternatively you could try Edwards and Son for second hand ones 01277 651486.

Thanks for your advise, I took the car back to the citroen garage yesterday. Got her back today, £300 lighter and with no light on. Mot is on thursday... My decision was forced after I went to the breakers yard and tried to remove one of the rear ones... There was no way that sender was gonna budge...!
Cheers.

Click on the following link which gives the details (saves me trying to remember :o ) http://www.frenchcarforum.co.uk/forum/view...6631&highlight=

On that forum you will find quite a lot of info in Xantia ABS already written. The most common sensor to fail is the N/S/F. If using an ohm meter you should get a reading of around 1080 ohms on a good sensor, noting at all on a faulty one as its normally the connecting wire that fails.

The front sensor wires can be traced back from the sensor to the connecting socket quite easily, the rear ones are ..........................a.................little more difficult as the wire disappears into the bowls of the subframe :o
