Meurig Posted June 20, 2008 Posted June 20, 2008 Hi all,The wife and i are expectine our 3rd child (all under 5) and I am after a new car to take the everyone. I have read the reviews but there is nothing like speaking to the people who have lived with the car for the real knowledge on how it fits with the requirements. I am thinking of buying one of the new shape multispace's but have a couple of questions. 1- The rear 3 seats. Will they take 2 full on child seats and a booster seat comfortably?2- How is the comfort on long journeys for a family of 5?3- We take regular holidays in Centre Parcs meaning all the shopping for a week away plus all luggage and also all requirements for babies. Will the multispace take all this comfortably?4- How much can i realistically get them to remove fromt he cost of a new multispace at the dealership?5- Finally, this car will have to last a fair few years, how is the vehicly durability historically? Cheers in advanceMeurig. Quote
u4coffee Posted June 20, 2008 Posted June 20, 2008 Hi there A friend of mine has one of these so I can answer a few of the questions. 1: She's a nanny and has had no problem with any combination of child seats and boosters. Probably an idea to see if you can try and fit them in a demonstrator 1st to make sure though 2: There's loads of room in there, I've been on quite long journeys in it without any discomfort3: The boot is huge. I cant see you having a problem4: Cant really help much on this one. I'm a member of the CSMA (Civil servants Motoring Association) and got a discount through them when I got my C4 (20% from Citroen London West)5: Cant answer this one really, but its base on a van so should be built to last. My friend hasn't had any probs with hers Hope this helps Quote

tronboy Posted June 22, 2008 Posted June 22, 2008 I am thinking of buying one of the new shape multispace's but have a couple of questions. Do you mean the one that's been around since 2002 or the brand new one? Quote
Meurig Posted June 25, 2008 Author Posted June 25, 2008 Do you mean the one that's been around since 2002 or the brand new one? hi tronboy,I was thinking the brand new one. I have had a quote from my local dealer. 16. diesel XTR trim for £10300 plus my car which they value (unseen) at £2300 making a total of £12600. As far as i can tell this is about £1000 off the list price of the car. Does this seem about right for a breand new model discount? Marcus. Quote

Cheers in advanceMeurig.1. Yes2. Next week we will be travelling from Burgundy to York in one day (nearly 700 miles) and it will not be uncomfortable. 3. Oh yes!4. ?5. Current one (1.6hdi 92 hp) 30,000km no probs. Last one 1.4i petrol, 105,000 miles, water pump changed with timing belt at 60,000 and driver's leccy window motor failed in first month otherwise just got it serviced and filled it with petrol. There seems to be concerns over electrics but this is the bane of most modern cars that are often too complex. For example, during the past 5 years we have had the Blingos we have also had (through my job) 5 BMW X5s, Range Rover Sport, Jag XK each of which did about 10,000 miles. Only the RR was trouble free - the Jag's steering box failed and each X5 blew its ECU at least once (one of them on 3 occasions). The BMs also suffered from warning lights coming on for no reason.
