C3-PO-wer Posted July 19, 2005 Posted July 19, 2005 Hey, had a new head unit for my C3 with standard ISO connection plug it in and it worked: cool i thought : so i tuned in a station and turned it off Turned it back on and station was still there cool I thought again went and had a cup of tea came back out and the battery was low (central locking wouldn't work) even though the unit was off turned it back on and the station was lost scratching head I went to the radio manual (for the first time) and had a read I've got it permanent and acc power the wrong way round Swapped the wires and yes it worked But stayed on after swiching the car off More head scratching Sitting in the car reading all the manuals now when suddeny it turned off Whaaaaat theee heeelllllll Head now almost scratched off Turned on the car radio came on Turned it off radio stayed on Turns out for anyone out there like me (scratching) that after about a minute the acc circuit turns off and the radio will go off How ever you then get the added bonus that the clock doesn't change keeps time but only works when the ca is off so you get to time all your journeys because as soon as you start the car the clock stays at that time until you turn off and back on again. Now for my BIG QUESTION Has anyone out there installed a new head unit that works the stark controls(or the other way round) and doesn't bugger up the dash display and time Quote
truemouse Posted November 1, 2005 Posted November 1, 2005 Head is so hard to get in the car, but it's worth it in the end. (I am soo gonna get banned.) :D  Quote

wozza Posted November 1, 2005 Posted November 1, 2005 What the admins that are always here are gonna ban you? lol But to answer original question depending on headunit you need 2 adaptors usually one for steering stalk controls and 1 for the display. Can be got for the C3 rather easily. Quote
truemouse Posted November 1, 2005 Posted November 1, 2005 There ya go! Wozza, world expert on head. Quote
Wendy Posted January 28, 2006 Posted January 28, 2006 Fitted an Alpine unit in my C3 with the KCE-862B steering wheel adaptor so the stalk controls work. Dashboard display doesn't show radio info just shows date and time but everything else works like door open info. Wendy. Quote
wozza Posted January 28, 2006 Posted January 28, 2006 Got an alpine in my own car nice choice. Gotta love the alpine units just a shame 1 of my amps which drives my sub went into protection mode tonight. Back to the audio shop tomorrow to get it sorted. But while it worked My god 600watts of RMS through an RE sub is to put it bluntly fucking overkill. My mate actually asked me to turn it down as it was physically hurting him with the vibrations. Admittedly it was a little too loud but my god its cool! And the display adaptors usually wont show anything up on the screen no point putting the information on 2 screens anyways. Quote
connellyg Posted October 8, 2006 Posted October 8, 2006 how much did they KCE-862B cost you mate and from were Quote
wozza Posted October 8, 2006 Posted October 8, 2006 Just get an adaptor from www.caraudiodirect.co.uk funny how i thought 600w RMS was so loud then few months later and i need more! Quote
connellyg Posted October 16, 2006 Posted October 16, 2006 hi...i have a similar problem...when the car is switched on it remembers presets. switch it off make a cuppa, come back to check its reset. is this a failsafe to stop the battery from running out. did you get this fixed..if so how Quote
