Hi all, new to the forum just had a phone call from a friend in trouble. to cut a long story short he broke a front spring reading through the forum I wish he had taken it straight to a dealer ! Right He has himself replaced the spring but found it has broken the ABS wire ! He has called me and said he has tried to repair it But as I am renault trained have told him it is probably a shielded wire he is wasting his time. His other concern is that the brake pedal feels funny now I have asked him to check to make sure the flexi hose is not damaged.

He has asked me to go and have a look tomorrow is there anything unusual about the new citroens (I remember old ds and bx models with phnewmatic brakes (spelling) and have steered away from them ever since)

thanks

Obviously you will have read that in the event of a spring failure it can damage the flexi brake hose....other than that, nothing special about the sensors other than to say it picks up from a magnetic dust shield on the hub bearning.....so worth checking no bits of rust attached to it!

Great, so as far as you know a pretty normal hydraulic system with ABS

yup :lol:

Great I will call him on the phone in the morning and explain what to look for ( save me a trip}

I take it the sensors are joined onto the ABS loom under the splash gaurds.

thanks

When he changed the spring did he undo the brake lines.

Did he bleed the brakes by the old fill and press the pedal method. If so that could be the problem, as ABS have to be pressure bled by use of a pressure feed.
