Hello folks, I've just taken the plunge and bought a '98 R-plate Xantia 2.1TD and I'm really happy with it. The only snag is that there's a very annoying chattering/whirring noise that seems to be coming from behind the radio/heating controls. It's there all the time, once I've turned on the ignition and is there when the engine isn't running. I've turned the heater speed control to what I think is the 'off' position (underneath the little fan symbol) but that didn't make a difference. Do any of you have any idea what it is please? Many thanks in advance.

this sounds like the little fan and is just above the radio and has the led on the front for the alarm system, the fan is linked to the AC and measures the air volume and temps inside the car take care when removing it because it in tight ( if you can remove the clock you can get at it easier ) the sound is from the fan touching the wires to the LED so it just needs to be clear of the wires and the noise should go
