newtoberlingo Posted July 15, 2008 Posted July 15, 2008 Hello there... my wife and i are currently on the search for a 2nd hand Berlingo Multispace. Not had one before, but it seems to offer all we are after.Test drove a 2004 HDI 2.0 Desire yesterday, 57000k on clock, good exterior cond, ok interior cond. asking price of £5400. My 2 questions are:-The clutch was hard and had to be pressed all the way to floor. Changed smooth though, and wasn't sticking. Is this normal for a citroen? I'm used to a golf. Anything else that I should particulary look out for? Any help most appreaciated.http://www.citroen-owners-club.co.uk/citro...lt/rolleyes.gif Quote
techbod Posted July 15, 2008 Posted July 15, 2008 clutch peddle being hard to press goes a long way back with the Citroen and many have their reasons even mine is like that and its down to the clutch tensioner in the cable just where it goes through the bulk head and it sticks so you have to pump the peddle to ensure its going to work because its hard to change gear otherwise, the fix for mine is a new cable which has the tensioner built in and a pig to fit, later cars have hydraulic operated clutches supplied via a slave cylinder on the tranny and might need bleeding or it has a leak 57k is a little low for a worn clutch depending on the driver of course but it has to be taken into account and could be used as a tool to reduce the price  , service history is important and check for any previous damage repair as you do ;) Quote

I wasn't so worried about the hard to press bit, more the fact it had to be pressed all the way to the floor. I was told this is standard with Citroens and french cars on the whole. is this right?
