Hi all

I wonder if anyone could help me, I have a Y reg xsara 1.4lx, for about a week i keep hearing creaking sounds coming from the rear of the car, especially when pulling away and sometimes when braking. I'm guessing it might be the suspension as the car now looks a lot lower then usual. I know that I can not fit my fist between the tyre and the wheel arch...Any help?

do the bounce test on each corner and listen for the sound otherwise check if the dampers/shocks are leaking

Hi

Tried it no sound, put the car on the ramps checked underneath everything looks ok, I have no idea what it could be but thanks for the help anyway.

Had a similar issue with our Saxo VTR - after months of blank looks from various mechanics, our local garage traced it to the spring assembly between the exhaust manifold and the cat. Replaced that and it's been great ever since. Worth a try - it was a sort of clicky/creak sound.

Hi I have the same problem with my 2004 Xsara Estate 2.0HDI When I either drive slow or even getting in and out of car the rear suspension creaks, appears that its coming from the right hand side. The shockers are showing no signing of leakage, however I douced the rear axle beam with duck oil where it appears to join to the wishbone, hub and it appeared to cure the problem for a short time.. but its back again... cant decide whether the rear shockers are weak or the axle beam (which appears to be sealed unit) is making the noise where the wishbone swivels... Once you are upto speed you cant hear the noise at all..
