Sorry if this is in the wrong category but the customising section seemed mostly about body kits and didnt seem too active judging by the dates on the posts.

This may seem like madness but I am curious about the possibilties of softening the suspension on my 2000 hdi xantia. The reason is that my wife is pregnant and has a long standing back problem tht are all made worse by the rough concrete track that leads to our house. In the long term I plan to repair the track but funds dont allow that for the time being so I thought about slightly enlarging the holes on the spheres that let the hydraulic fluid in. The car in question is a runaround we dont use that much as we have another xantia with less miles used for longer journeys. even if the plan doesnt work it would only involve replacing the spheres. I plan to just do the front spheres.

Am I completely mad and does anyone out there have any thoughts on the technichal issues ?

Cheers

My first Xantia, a 19.d, had considerably softer suspension than my 110 HDi. I assume this was down to the valve settings in the sphere throats. However, I'm not sure I'd have wanted such a set-up on a car as powerfull as the 110. The 1.9d was VERY wallowy on bends. I think this would have made the 110 all but unmanageable. You may be better off buying an older Xantia with a softer set-up (They're cheap as chips) until your wife is no longer in the family way and you get your road sorted!

Cheers. Hope this helps :D
