Hello,

Wife has got a Picasso, recently purchased private sale.We have to top up the water level almost daily. There is a small pool of water seen underneath the car after its been standing (not the air con as its off).Power is ok,no sign of any milky substance in the water or in the oil so head gasket ok.Told by previous owner that water pump/timing belt recently changed.I will get leak checked but am concerned in case water pump is leaking.

Will let u know.

chances are its the water pump because when the car is standing and engine is off the pressure is released through the hole in the water pump housing as its supposed to do when the bearing fails, consider having the timing belt done at the same time because they are in there so could save some money in the long term

A leaking water line can cause big problems. If the leak is very small you can turn off the water, dry the pipe, and tightly wrap with black electrical tape. This link might help, www.associatedcontent.com/article/660019/fixing_a_leaking_water_line_how_to.html?cat=6

Had the car checked today.Mechanic says it appears to be the water pump plastic housing that is leaking.Says it goes hot/cold over a period of time and becomes brittle.States he will have to remove drivers side drive shaft to explore further . ;)
