Guest ---DAF--- Posted July 31, 2008 Posted July 31, 2008 Hi i am new to this forum, I have been a Xantia owner for over a year with little to no problems at all but usual replacement parts...... untill today. i got in it with my friend to go off fer the day and pumped the gas once and turned the key (after entering the imobalizer key) the starter motor just started and BANG!! well a POPBANG!! kind of sound that was rather scary and loud and then smoke, blue smoke, poured from under the bonnet. We looked under the hood and there was oil (engine oil) spilled over the oil filter and some on the radiator but not much. i felt around and found something dangling on a rubber hose type thing, that i assume was attatched to something possibly important. there was also, just above the oil filter, a plastic type pipe hanging down that has oil residue inside, which appears to go up behind the solid plastic part with the citroen logo on, that feels like it opens out into a squarer box shape and attatches to the underside or bunderneath at the back of the hard plastic thing with the citroen logo on. Someone had a quick look and said its a pipe come off the P????? something begining with a P and 4-5 sylables but as soon as he walked off i forgot what he said. i really dont know what is wrong. HELP!!!!!! :P :( :( Quote
Guest ---DAF--- Posted July 31, 2008 Posted July 31, 2008 I forgot,,,,, its a Citroen Xantia 1.8i 16v 1995 P reg, its been 3 - 4 hours and im missing it already.. Quote
techbod Posted July 31, 2008 Posted July 31, 2008 it sounds like an oil cooler pipe, look at the oil filter and just behind it there are 2 pipes coming out of the part where the oil filter screws in, don't run the engine till its sorted chances are the pipe was weak due to age or the clip wasn't on tight Quote
