New to Club. Did a search on forums but did not find any results but apologies if I missed something.

The LCD display on my 2002 C5 2.2 HDI is not displaying the top of screen. Misses radio station names, can't set date/time, temperature options etc. But can see MPG, Miles to next fill etc.

This was after a valet. I think the cleaner used some solvent or rubbed display too hard.

Is it easy to remove the display and replace it as a DIY option without taking car apart. Is unit just a pug-in or does it require soldering or other technical interventions? If easy how do I do it?

Thanks for any help.

It's fairly easy to get out - just put a thin bladed screwdriver under the centre bottom part of the smooth plastc surround and prise it up. This is where the plastic lug is that secures the surround. Squeeze the surround so the top and bottom come closer and pull it clear. Careful not to break the trafficmaster light connection.

The display is secured with 2 screws. I used a bit of blue tack on the end of the screwdriver to hold them when I came to put it back.

From memory, I think it's just a a multiplug connection. I only took mine out to replace 2 bulbs. Could be that's your problem?

Hi its a real easy fix. the surround just pulls out although it seems tight it does come of u then have 2 torx bits either side od the display undo these then the unit just pulls out undo multi plug on the bag and thats it all done.like i say the plastic surround is a pain but does come of the clips that hold it are level with the buttons on both sides of the display

Thanks to both coastline taxis and seefive for their interest and help. Seems like an easy(ish) task.

Seefive - I will check the bulbs but suspect it is a display problem and when unit is pressed the crystals do darken where the characters should be.

Kind Regards
