Anthonyric Posted August 16, 2008 Posted August 16, 2008 Greetings to all, Hi there, I am all new to this forum thing so bear with me :) I am writing in to ask if any one has come across this problem. My girl friend has a C3 1400 diesel. The problem which accrues is the car cuts out when driving it, when this happens the battery light goes off also, then instantly it corrects its self. It feels like for a split second the ignition is returned off then turned back on again and obviously the car Judders for that split second/s We have taken the car back to Citroen but as always the problem never appears while the mechanic is driving it. We have evan left the car with them for over a week and asked them to use the car but they always say they cannot find anything wrong with it....Which is quite strange and very frustrating. It is like? the car misses I have tried driving and holding the car at different revolutions but this does not cause the problem. I made sure the battery terminals were nice and clean also. I would be very grateful if any one has any incite into on our little problem many thanks Anthony. we live in spain C3 help Quote
Guest alan44 Posted August 16, 2008 Posted August 16, 2008 Hi have the garage put the car on the diagnostics, if not ask them to try the manifold pressure sensor.I have this problem on a 406 and that was the fault.cheers Alan Quote
TurboSlag Posted August 16, 2008 Posted August 16, 2008 I'm sure they will have tried the "diagnostics", but once again the myth of the word outweighs its real usefulness. Unelss the fault is either detected by one of the engine sensors, or is itself cause by a faulty sensor or management component (such as the ECU etc) then it won't log a trouble code. The manifold pressure sensor won't cause the wally lights to go off/on, but would cause the engine to stumble. Chuck it back at the dealer, and remind them of their obligations under the sale of goods act. If they can't fix it then they should refund your lady, or give her one which isn't broken. If a resolution is a long time coming, then lean on Citroen GB and/or your finance company. Quote
Anthonyric Posted August 18, 2008 Author Posted August 18, 2008 Unfortunately we have done this several times asked to speak to some one higher up ... until we are blue in the face. Now the warranty period has lapsed and not only that WE ARE IN SPAIN where manana is part of the alphabet A friend of my girlfriend`s brother ..A marine mechanic mentioned it could be something to do with something to do with the crank? The symptom is like the engine looses all power completely cuts out. It is like the ignition is switched off for a split second and then switches back on again it can do it once twice three times then rights its self. It does it when the engine is warm or cold different revolutions does not effect it either? Grateful for Any other ideas . Regards Anthony Quote
techbod Posted August 19, 2008 Posted August 19, 2008 the fault code might have helped resolve the problem, without it we can only guess but here are a few problems with the C series, http://www.bba-reman.com/content.aspx?cont...nd_tips#citroen Quote
CE08LDB Posted August 19, 2008 Posted August 19, 2008 Its like My Brothers 2006 C3 1.6i 16v Exclusive cuts out and does not select gear when it wants since week one and Citroens Computer can't find anything wrong. I know its not the gearbox as that was replaced in Dec 07 so its a faulty sensor somewhere but we have givin up trying to find the fault now as he has only got it now untill January 09. So not long left on it. Its due its MOT in December I will be surprised if it passes to be honest. Quote
techbod Posted August 19, 2008 Posted August 19, 2008 its a sad state of affairs when even the dealer cant sort it what they need is a qualified proper tech in there that does everything and not just the basics Quote
