Hi all

Just joined the forum as I am ordering my new C1 today! Have just made the call to Dealdrivers so am now waiting on the call from the dealer to place my order.

Can't wait to get my hands on it so hope it doesnt take too long to come. I know they are probably more in demand now with the current petrol/road tax increases, so I will just have to wait!!

Citroens are great wee cars though, my mum had an AX which lasted us 10 years. Interestingly enough when I was reading the posts about some C1's rear window shattering, we actually had the same thing happen in the AX. Its window supported the bottom part of the boot bodywork and I always wondered if someone had smashed it, so could have been the same thing?

Anyway, looking forward to sharing my experiences of C1 ownership with you!!

Oh well, thats the deed done! All ordered and deposit paid, so due to get the car on 8th September, which is sooner than I thought so even better.

Only 14 sleeps to go...........

Hi,

I'm looking to upgrade my C1 possibly soon as I miss the Central Locking and Electric windows. I currently have a Cool version, basically a Vibe with Air Con which cost me £6,500 with Metalic paint. How much are people paying for the Rythem Models with metalic paint? I'm not fussed about the Air Con as it just isn't needed often enough to bother with.

Certainly not this summer!

One way to get a guide to a competitive price would be to see what a site like drivethedeal.com is asking for the Rhythm

I'm sure you'll be pleased with the car :)

Which model/colour did you go for?

I went for the 1.0 Vibe 3dr in Red, so just the basic for me! Its usually only me that uses the car so couldnt really justify the extra for the Rhythm with central locking, as theres only one to lock most of the time!

I'm on my own mostly as well and it is a real pain to walk up to the door and have to unlock it, especially in the dark, when I've been so use to remote central locking.

Apart from that they are great cars and I've had no problems. I did 247 miles and filled up for £18.50 at 109.9p a litre of petrol the other day, very impressive. Enjoy.......

Wow, that is good on petrol. Thats one of the main reasons I'm getting one, for the better MPG, also the cheap as chips road tax.

I have just sold my Suzuki Jimny because of the rising costs, as the road tax especially has gone up a lot since we got it. Although it's only a dinky 4x4 with a 1.3 engine, because of the emissions of 174, the road tax in 2009 was going up to £205! I had always fancied a C1 since they came out so that was the final straw, and Jimny just had to go.

You were asking what was the best price on the Rhythm, I spotted this today, look at the Target Price team notes half way down

May have been tempted at this deal on Monday! Typical....... I suppose you would need to add the extra for Metallic paint though.

(Fek - just realised I was a week too short, 19 sleeps to go now........ :) )

I also have the Vibe in red for two years now, its a great wee car.

But... I to could not stand the car without central locking, and could not get used to being without, walking away a few times and forgetting about the passenger door still unlocked.

To solve this is reasonably easy DIY.

I fitted a 2 door solinoid kit supplied with two remote key fobs, remote control box, wiring, at just under £20 off Ebay.

I removed the door cards (you will find my door card removal procedure in this link)

http://www.citroen-owners-club.co.uk/citro...?showtopic=4449

I installed the solinoids and the pull rods, and located the remote locking control box behind the glove compartment.

Ran a supply cable through a fuse from the battery, through the bulkhead. Also ran cabing out to the doors (the cutouts are already there with rubber bungs). Also ran wires to indicators which flash when operating the remote fob.

One day it took to instal.

Cool I bet you can't wait.

Ive been up my local dealers compound this morning taking some pics of 58 reg Citroens for my scrap book. There are loads in there. Same as March just gone there were loads of 08s and in between then they didn't have many cars in there.

So what was the big advantage of dealdrivers compaired to a Citreon dealership?

I just checked the Vibe 3 door and its £5,935 compaired to Citreon dealer at £6,090.

And if you are not trading in Citreon would knock another percentage off.

To be honest, I was not impressed with my local Citroen dealership on the times I have visited recently.

I went in a few weeks ago to enquire about it and the salesman told me there was a 16 week waiting list for a C1 3dr Vibe in Red. :)

He then tried to sell me a pre-registered 5dr with metallic paint, despite me telling him several times that I was not interested in that model! I thought they were probably trying to get rid of their old stock before the 58 plates come out, so I walked away, obviously didnt want to take my money!

This is the first time I have bought a car through a broker, and I thought it would be worth a punt even just to get £150 knocked off the normal dealer cost. So far I have been impressed with the service from both Dealdrivers and the supplying dealer; obviously the fun part will start once i actually get the car, if there are any problems with it. I have used the local Citroen dealer for servicing previously and I found them ok so hopefully should be alright in that respect.

Well done on the DIY central locking fix, looks a wee bit too techy for me, but at least if the manual locking gets too annoying there is an option out there!

Its a good thing you did your research before buying. My Dealer hardly got any 08s there. I think about 4 maybe.

I had my C2 in April. April is a good month really as the mad rush is over in the March plus 08 was still a very new reg. I had my 05 Reg C3 in April 05 as well.

My Brother always missed the New reg by a week due to the Motability Contract and this time I arranged with the dealer to extend the contract by a week so he could get an 06 instead of a 55 reg I arranged this a few months before but then his daughter wrote off his 52 2003 C3 in Nov 05 so his New C3 he had to have it on 55 reg as he had it in January instead.

So I don't blame you waiting for the new reg

I got my 107 Urban, specced up with rev counter, front fogs, rear speakers, SP mesh grille and glovebox lid for just under £6300. It already has colour coded mirrors, door handles, keyless entry etc, so was a bargain compared to the C1s available at the same price.

My previous 107, a Sport XS, was £6200 and in adition to all the above had leather steering wheel, leather gaiter, red interior trim, body decals, front bumper canards, twin centre exit stingers on the exhaust, alloy wheels etc. I drove this for a year, racked up 12k miles, serviced it myself at 10k miles (£22 for genuine pug parts) and sold it a year on for £6000 - only a £200 loss. You couldn't buy a reliable used car for £200 that'd last you a year. For some bizzarre reason the 107 seems to hold it's value best out of the B-Zero trio.

I prefer the look of the C1, but the enormous levels to which Pug dealers are discounting nowadays means you're simply getting a lot more car and equipment for your £££ with them at the mo.

I never gave a stuff about the new reg myself - partly cos no one cares, partly cos it's the year and not the reg which dicates the value, and partly cos you get some of the best deals at the tail end of the reg 'year' when the dealers are at their quietest. If someone wants to give away extra money for no other purpose than to have some slightly different lettering on their number plate that most people won't even notice (cos most people don't understand the current registration system) then be my guest. Leaves even cheaper deals for canny buyers like me to mop up - why go for a cheap car to save money, then pay more than you have to?

If you don't buy your C1 from a main dealer I believe you only get two years warrenty instead of the three? When purchasing my car I got a certifcate from my dealer which I have to use to prove it should get the full three year warrenty. Might be worth checking that out if your buying from a broker as I could be wrong.

i bought my c1 via a broker (drive the deal ) and you are half right you get two years manufacturer warranty and the third year is provided by the dealer where the car was purchased so this could prove a bit of a disadvantage if you are a bit of a distance from that dealer you just have to balance up the savings against the risk of something going wrong in the third year. i suppose if something major went wrong with the car and it couldnt drive they would have to collect it

Any C1 originally imported to the country by Citroen GB will have the full 3 years warranty, irrespective of who actually ends up selling it to the public. The exception are cars sold to the emergency services, or for use as taxis/Private Hire vehicles, in which case different warranty terms & conditions apply.

If this was the case then why would the dealer explain and give me a certificate to get the third year warrenty? I would check with Citroen UK before buying from a broker. Just the car is more likely to go wrong in the third year than any other. Thankfully they are built by Toyota so not to much goes wrong.

this is what i found on the citroen website

3 YEARS' WARRANTY ON ALL NEW CAR MODELS

Every new Citroën car offers the benefit of a 3 year∆ warranty package.

(∆ 3 years’ warranty is only on new cars sourced from Citroën UK Limited. 2 years’ unlimited mileage manufacturer’s warranty and no fee customer option of 3rd year dealer provided extended warranty, up to a 3 year total of 60,000 miles)

hope this clears it up for you

I just bought my C1 from Bristol Street Derby (I live on the southcoast). The whole deal was done through newcitroendeals.com. £6400 for a red Rhythm & they gave me £400 for my old car = £6000 flat for the Car. :P It was an extra £350 for metallic paint, but I didn't see the point. Originally I was looking at a Vibe, but at £6k the Rhythm with electric windows/remote central locking etc. was a bargain.

Oh and if your wondering about the Derby to Southcoast problem - Bristol Street Trailer delivered it to my door for £50! They offered to drive it down, but that would have meant a few hundred miles on the clock not done by me, :o

Yes, Vauxhall administer theirs in exactly the same way. Nonetheless, if it's an official UK car it will have 3 years warranty, irrespective of from whom it is purchased, and Citroen will have to honour that themselves as that's precisely what they advertise, thus making it one of the terms of a legally binding contract as an "advertised incentive to buy".

Most C1s/107s tend to suffer their faults fairly early on (the recurring clutch problems, before PSA resolved them, were evident usually well within 10k miles). Now the oldest of these cars are past their 1st MOT, time has shown that the clutch, rattly tailgate, craky/rattly seat, and other recurring faults crop up pretty swiftly and most cars, by their 3rd year, are usually pretty well sorted and are proving more reliable during this period than their 1st 12 months.

Just a quick update, as I now am the proud owner of my shiny new C1!

Picked it up on Monday and so far so good. Enjoying buzzing around town in it and am getting used to the "sporty" sounding 3 cylinder engine. I'm glad the dealer mentioned it before I drove it, as it does take a bit of getting used to, but in a good way!

Have just filled up with the first full tank of petrol so will be interested to see how far it goes. Was at 3 bars when I collected it, and the petrol gauge seemed to go quickly from 2 bars to 1 flashing bar.

I still cannot get over how roomy it is inside compared to my previous hatchbacks, I'm convinced its some kind of optical illusion :)
