Guest jamlingo Posted August 21, 2008 Posted August 21, 2008 I have recently replaced the standard radio cassette in my 2003 berlingo and since doing this the dashboard display freezes/ the clock does not update. I have read a previous post about this problem but did not help. Is there something i can do to fix this problem? I would be extemely greatful as this problem is very annoying! Many thanks James :) Quote
kfk Posted August 21, 2008 Posted August 21, 2008 You dont say what radio or if you have had to change any wirring round to get the new set to work.....however, one thing that can be certain is that connecting the radio has caused a conflict with the data network on the vehicle. Untill you have checked your connections i would recommend you unplug the new set to remove the possibility of damaging the vehicle main computer......might sound a bit extreme but it happens. Quote
Guest jamlingo Posted August 22, 2008 Posted August 22, 2008 Its a sony unit. I didnt change any wiring I just connected the two blocks.Do you think this problem involves re-wiring the connector blocks? I'm not upto date on installing new head units. Thanks Quote
bobdisk Posted August 26, 2008 Posted August 26, 2008 My Berlingo is a mk1 without a centre display. I could not find a way of controlling an aftermarket radio sensibly from the ignition key so gave up and returned the original radio/cassette. BE VERY CAREFUL NOT TO CONNECT THE BSI DATA PINS 1 AND 2 (black/white and red/white)TO ANY POWER OR EARTH, OR ANYTHING OTHER THAN A CITROEN BSI FUNCTION BECAUSE YOU CAN BLOW THE BSI, VERY EXPENSIVE! Check these pins on your Sony (Sony are also a law unto themselves). see the thread titled "Stereo Doesn't Switch Its Self Off!,". Its here http://www.citroen-owners-club.co.uk/citro...view=getnewpost Read the whole string from the start.Bobdisk Quote
lemsworld Posted July 3, 2010 Posted July 3, 2010 Hi I have this problem now, did you manage to sort this out and if so how? Thanks Lliam Coker Quote
bobdisk Posted July 3, 2010 Posted July 3, 2010 I never sorted it. After finding out how fussy the BSI is, I permanently reverted to the standard unit, It worked ok, and there were no other problems. Quote
bobdisk Posted July 4, 2010 Posted July 4, 2010 you can buy an adapter harnessI would not trust an adaptor harness. Look at the link in post4. Quote
lemsworld Posted July 14, 2010 Posted July 14, 2010 Ok after my last post I wired up my sub with the help of a man on YouTube. As I had the battery unplugged and then plugged it back in the centre display now works as it did other than the illumination but the clock and the date and the scrolling message if a door opens works fine at night I have the time showing on my Sony cd player so doesn't bother me too much. Just thought I'd post what I had found out. Lliam Quote
