Johndouglas Posted August 22, 2008 Posted August 22, 2008 my local dealer is trying to pull a fast one on me. Can't be right! Dealers don't do that sort of thing. According to Autodata the cambelt should be changed at 100K or if under adverse conditions it should be 80K. Personally, I would go for the 80K. Quote
BrentC4 Posted August 22, 2008 Author Posted August 22, 2008 Well every car I owned i changed it at 75'K, the weird thing is the service book in the C4 says 120'K... Well the Citroen Dealer quoted be about R 6000, which is more or less 500 pounds. Does that seem like a right Quote Quote
Johndouglas Posted August 22, 2008 Posted August 22, 2008 Difficult to say since I don't know how the prices go in SA. In the UK we have Independant Citroen Agents and they tend to be much more reasonable in price. Don't you have them? £500 in the UK would be regarded as far too much for a belt change, even allowing for a new water pump and pulleys. Quote

The recommended time to change one on the 1.6HDi is 120,000 miles/200,000Km. The petrol engines are at 80,000 miles/120,00Km.
