Guest rabbit Posted August 27, 2008 Posted August 27, 2008 Hi all Just bought a 1.9 D Berlingo van from the Auction. It's a 2004 with 29k warranted miles. After paying and picking up the paperwork I went to get the keys and was presented with one key that has no buttons to work the central locking. Unfortunately this key will not lock the rear doors when in the lock and turned either left or right. I have no info on how to get the central locking working or how to get another key. Does anyone have any ideas on how to get the locks working properly? Quote
Guest rabbit Posted August 29, 2008 Posted August 29, 2008 Well, having owned the van for a day I've discovered what the problem is. Firstly, the van doesn't have central locking! Secondly, the only key that I have to lock the doors has slight damage to it where the previous owner has used it to lever something and therefore when trying to lock the doors the key just turns around in the barrel. Finally, I am told by citroen that I can have a new key made ( that should solve the problem) for £99! This seems rather high to me for a key, apparently it has to be recoded for the immobiliser. Still cheaper than a central locking key which would cost £160! Quote
techbod Posted August 29, 2008 Posted August 29, 2008 yes its expensive because its a chipped key but there are ways round that, you can have a key cut that's not chipped and tape the old key to the ignition barrel which will bypass the immobilizer ( not the recommended way but the cheapest ), no central locking :o cheap sods ;) Quote
PICASSO23 Posted August 29, 2008 Posted August 29, 2008 Wife's Picasso has central locking, but the remote key fob doesn't work the central locking despite having changed the battery.I have bought a used remote with an uncut blade off e-bay.Will Citroen be able to re-programme it to work on the Picasso or should I have bought a brand new one .???? There is also no code card with the car .Any ideas on how to get a replacement without having to go through Citroen ????? Quote
techbod Posted August 30, 2008 Posted August 30, 2008 a used fob is useless and cant be reprogrammed unfortunately ( anti theft issue ), my old xantia had the code in the receiver housing and the dealer checked it and I got a new fob ( old car wasn't chip in key like the later ones ) most only buy fobs from ebay for the cover as they ware out Quote

techbod Posted August 31, 2008 Posted August 31, 2008 well at least you have a spare casing and a blank key so all isn't lost, try repairing your other fob chances are its the tracking on the pcb and could need a simple solder job Quote
