Johngartyuk Posted August 29, 2008 Posted August 29, 2008 Hi everyone I bought myself a nice Tomtom satnav and have fitted it in my 04 2.0 HDi estate (it works fine even with my athermic windscreen) and I am getting fed up with radio interference using the Tomtom internal wireless transmitter - I think it may be the fact that the car aerial is mounted way back above the tailgate. I was wondering if any of you tech people know how the (redundant) Trafficmaster unit communicates with the Radio/CD - is there some sort of Line-In connection on the back of the stereo? If so, do you know the wiring colours/terminal numbers? Or am I dreaming that such a simple solution to MP3/satnav/other audio equipment could exist? My Radio /CD is the standard Clarion I think its a PU2295A Any information would be most appreciated J Quote
old'uns Posted August 31, 2008 Posted August 31, 2008 could be way off, but doesn't the trafficmaster have its own speaker? sure mine sounds like its near the glovebox on drivers side?think it may share the aerial though?i'm sure i'll be corrected if wrong :o Quote

I'm about to give up on this line of approach because I saw a good solution here Xcar LinkI have asked them regarding suitability with my head unit, but so far they haven't replied. My friend has a similar thing fitted into his Mazda 6 estate and it works really well. In the meantime, I'm going to live with it! Quote

The Trafficmaster unit seems to use a relay to switch between its own output and the audio from the head unit going to the speakers. The unit lives on top of the glovebox and should have an RF input and the other wires coming off it going somewhere else. Unfortunately the RTA manual doesn't cover it, as that sort of info is free on the overhead notice boards and via Bison Futé in France. I haven't looked at your quick solution but some people have managed to get a line in via the audio input for the changer if the changer is not used. Be worth looking for iPod/MP3 player solutions on older C5s. Quote
