Guest fredcatt Posted September 10, 2008 Posted September 10, 2008 Hi, anyone out there come across this ? If I turn my climate control on the red warning light in the temp gauge flashes. I was in a traffic jam last week and the water temp rose to a level I have never seen before , the warning light started flashing. When I turned the climate control on, the radiator cooling fan came on , the light went out and the temp dropped . When the temp returned to normal the light started flashing once again untill I turned off the climate control. Under normal driving conditions the temp is usually around 75/80. Any help would be appreciated. Quote
kfk Posted September 10, 2008 Posted September 10, 2008 Would be worth checking to see if the lowspeed cooling fan comes on when you turn on the Air condioning.....it should do. If the fan isnt coming on and the Air Con is activated it will cause the red light to flash because it detects this as a fault. The reason the light went off when it was overheating and you activated the air con........i would guess it got hot enough for the fast speed fan to come on and it was coincidence......obviously when it became cool enough the the fast speed fan turned off but beacues the aircon needs the slow speed it caused the red light to flash........well thats my theory......now tell me the fan works and i'll say i was wrong . Thanks for that. This was mentioned to me recently but either my eyes are going or my ears because I was unable to see/hear this other fan. Could you tell me where it is located.CheersFred Quote
kfk Posted September 11, 2008 Posted September 11, 2008 Well if its not working your not going to hear it!...........but if you kneel in front of the car and look through the front grill in the lower bumper you should just make out the fan blades......obviously i would recommend you do this first without the engine running as the blades are stationary....you can see them easier that way.......then turn it on and see if they have become a blur :) Quote
