Guest xln179 Posted September 14, 2008 Posted September 14, 2008  I seem to be getting brake squeal from my front brakes , it even occures slightly when turning left or right. I'm sure it's from the front as pulling on the hand brake at the same time as using the foot brake does stop the squeal & likewise using the h/brake alone does not cause brake squeal can any one help, Or advise if my diagnosis ic faulty Quote
kfk Posted September 14, 2008 Posted September 14, 2008 i assume you realise the handrake operates on the front brakes? More often than not brake noise is attributed to the rear brakes on C5's....ussul cause is corrosion between the rear brake caliper and the rear suspension arm which over time causes the rear pads to wear unevenly and in extreme circumstances for the caliper to make contact with the disc See http://www.citroen-owners-club.co.uk/citro...?showtopic=6881 & http://www.citroen-owners-club.co.uk/citro...pic=6767&hl= for information on removein rear brake calipers. Now to check the rear disc pads Quote

andyl56 Posted March 30, 2009 Posted March 30, 2009 Hello , after months of awful squealing brakes and the thought of the cost to fix them i did something i used to do years ago on my old mini, i took the brakes apart and gently filed a bit off the pads, i did this on all four wheels and the squealing has gone !, but i would only do this if you have plenty of life left in the pads like i have. Its been a month now and no squealing or people on the street looking at me when i brake !. Quote
