dragan Posted September 24, 2008 Posted September 24, 2008 Hi,I have a problem with gearbox in my Citroen C5 2.0 HDI automatic. I need to replace it so I'm wonder is it possible to mount a manual gearbox instead of automatic. I'm also interested to do it by myself, so I would be thankful if somebody can give me some manual how to do it!Regards Quote
Stasi Posted September 24, 2008 Posted September 24, 2008 Hi Dragan, I think you would be opening up a big can of whoopass trying this; even from the hardware point of view you would have problems; it's not a simple box out-box in procedure; you would need flywheel, gearbox, maybe a different starter motor driveshafts etc...., and the possible software incompatibilities to my mind make this idea a non-starter....Sorry to be so negative but having done this type of thing on far less advanced vehicles than a C5, and with a complete donor vehicle to plunder, there are all sorts of things that need considering beyond the idea. I think you would perhaps be better trying to source a good secondhand autobox and fitting that. Regards Stasi Hi,I have a problem with gearbox in my Citroen C5 2.0 HDI automatic. I was asking some people about that problem, and one of the answers was that maybe I could put a manual gear box from Peugeot 406. What do you think about that.?Regards Quote

To swap over youl ned inner cv joints/flywheel/clutch/gear lever and cables/pedal box and pedal/master and slave cylinders/brake resorvoir and starter motor. The clutches are dead. The car doesn't have enough power to go uphill even in manual mode. I've changed oil but it worked only two-three months and now it is dead. It needs replacement.Regards Quote

THE BOXES ARE EASY TO GET OUT BUT IF I WERE YOU ID TAKE ENGINE AND BOX OUT AS IT WILL GIVE EASIER ACSESS FOR THE CLUTCH MASTER CYLINDER AND THE PEDAL BOX ALSO THE ELECTRICS WONT BE A ISSUE AS THE AUTO BOX HAS ITS OWN ECU. THE ONLY PART OF THE JOB THAT WE WERNT LOOKING FORWARD TO WAS THE PEDAL BOX AND INSTALING THE CLUTCH HYDRAULICS THE REST IS STRAIGHT FORWARD. AND YES THE PUG 406 BOX WILL FIT ALTHOUGH SOMETIMES YOU MAY HAVE TO SWAP THE SELECTORS OVER AS THE CIT CABLES ARE BIGGER THAN THE PUGS BALLS ON THE SELECTOR. AND YES I NO IM GOT THE CAPS LOCK ON BUT ME SON WHO KNOWS EVERYTHING AT 14 ISNT HERE TO TURN IT OF HA HA Quote

dragan Posted September 29, 2008 Author Posted September 29, 2008 if you go ahead with the plan how much do you want for your old auto boxThat'll be fine to sold you my old auto box, but unfortunately it'll be very difficult because I'm not from UK. I have few more questions for you. If I choose to replace my auto box with that one for Peugeot 406 Manual box), I want to know what is the situation with the following:1. Pedal box for Pug 406-does it fit?2. What about the flywheel and motor starter-same question?3. Gearbox handle-could I put it instead of handle for auto box? Does it work on a bar principle or it is something else?Regards Quote

dragan Posted October 4, 2008 Author Posted October 4, 2008 how hard is it for you to get spares out the or do you have a good dealership networkWell, if you have enough money, everything is easy. There is a good dealership network but it is very expensive so I'm trying on any other way to get what I need with some normal prices. For example, I can buy a new auto gear box for "only" 1500-2000 eur. I think that is to much for this car so I've decided to do something else and I think that I'm very close to get this problem to the end.Regards Quote
