Barry Posted April 1, 2003 Posted April 1, 2003 I have just bought another Xantia from a garage in Northern Ireland all though I paid for the car (£6000) It was agreed by the garage that the faults I found would be sorted out and I parted with my old Xantia which was 8 years old and a pleasure to drive. I hope there is someone out there that might be able to help as this car is the worse car I have ever had in 42 years of driving but the garage say's there is nothing wrong. The car vibrates and you can feel everything through the steering wheel and the floor the steering pulls to the right the suspension is very hard and feels as though the leveler has been lowered or highered it is a very rough ride and sways from side to side and has excessive road noise, and you can feel every bump and even on smooth surfaces you can still feel everything through the steering. Could someone shed some light on this as I have now got a wrangle with the garage as they are saying that the car is perfect. Hope someone will read this and tell me what is wrong other than get rid of it, by the way the car is a 1.9TD November 1999 Quote
corkymills Posted April 6, 2003 Posted April 6, 2003 Hi, have you tried www.andyspares.com/discussionforum ???? you should find an answer to your problem there.this site seems a bit slow to get going.....good luck.........corky :) Quote
robertgillatt Posted April 14, 2003 Posted April 14, 2003 Most likely suspension spheres. £200.00 - £300.00 fitted which should be OK versus the price tag. Get a diagnosis from a main dealer ( or two ) if you can. If you have a specialist independant , as we do in Plymouth, then you should save a fair wedge on labour. I lived in Ireland for two years. The roads in the north are a bit rough but mostly OK. If it was was used much in the south then you can halve suspension life ( at least ). Quote
hairytea Posted November 10, 2004 Posted November 10, 2004 dunno what your problem is but i recently worked for an insurance company who's statistics show that some stupidly high percentage cars bought from northern ireland are grey imports and not built to uk specifications!!! you could have been stitched up with a dodgy model??? just guessing but you may need to get your money back and buy else where???? sorry i do not mean to insult but looking at possibility! if this is the case you will need to take action ASAP! c4owner Posted December 12, 2006 Posted December 12, 2006 I had a xantia years ago (company car) and the supsension leveling failed several times - the link arm at the rear to the valve unit under the boot floor was only held in place by a small clip and the damm thing failed several times until Citroen eventually upgraded it - great engine though the 1.9td - pulled like a train and the ride was good with none of the issues reported above Quote
