terryrmills Posted October 13, 2005 Posted October 13, 2005 My personal experience with Citreon leaves a lot to be desired on a C5 I bought from new:

* Rear Brakes squeal admitted by Citron but refuse to deal with it, as “it does not affect braking performance”. Ask my neighbours, check my eardrums!
* Incompatible roof rack equipment supplied.
* Poor recording of service details that potentially affect guarantee.
I would like to know how many other Citroen users have been treated in an arrogant, high handed, and potentially negligent way. I have constructed a Website to co-ordinate responses in order to bring public awareness to this situation of poor service. Citron senior management need to know how their customers feel – not just the stymied view filtered to them by their “Customer Service” Department. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I have created a Group http://groups.msn.com/Citroenusers/ and an associated website www.citroenbrakesqueal.com/ to bring together Citroen users who feel that they have been let down by poor service from Citroen dealers. I want to hear of your poor experiences at the hands of Citroen! This whole activity is as the result of an inability to get a message past the impenetrable “Customer Service” Department at Slough. Johndouglas Posted March 20, 2008 Posted March 20, 2008 cheap brake pads thats why u got the noise Can't be! Mine squeals and they are still on the originals. Trouble is, they don't always squeal. Sometimes they go for weeks without a sound. Quote
Jonno Posted March 20, 2008 Posted March 20, 2008 Can't be! Mine squeals and they are still on the originals. Trouble is, they don't always squeal. Sometimes they go for weeks without a sound. Its probably because the pads have become glazed, removal of pads and a quick rub over with an abrasive pad to get the shine off their friction surface will cure it, (do not breathe the dust). Also it will give you a chance to check condition of any anti rattle springs/clips that may be fitted. Loose shims, anti rattle components etc. can give rise to brake pad squeal too. Quote

iannez Posted March 20, 2008 Posted March 20, 2008 the rear pads are slightley bigger than the disc so when the pads wear you end up with a small lip on the outside edge of the pad which sits over the edge of the disc causing the squeal. remove the pads and file or grind off the lip. dont understand why any dealer would turn work away unless the costomer is expecting the work to be done for free. easy way would be to ask how much a rear brake service will be and then book it in. the technician will remove the lip and re-face the pads. there should be no lip on the discs because as i said earlier the pads over hang the disc. This has not altered the braking capability and has made my life quieter. Quote
shallishanti? Posted May 3, 2008 Posted May 3, 2008 wow brake squeal - doesn't really bother me. I use an Indy and he always returns my car squeal free after a service. 5000 miles later it's back again. Hardly life threatening. Poor recording of service details? You mean you didn't check they'd stamped the book when you left the garage, or what? Quote
