Need some help, recently my C3 1.6 exclusive is emitting what can best be described as a high pitched drone/ buzz which is driving us nuts. Have tried leaving the radio off, air con on and off auto and manual and adjusted the air direction without joy. It is not their all the time and seems to come from the centre of the dashboard. Has anyone got any ideas.

its a common fault on Citroen's which have AC and its a little fan in the center of the dash, on the xantia its next to the clock behind a little vent which has the clear LED on it for the internal motion sensors when they are deactivated the led flashes,

yours is probably in the same place and what happens is the wire for the LED catches the little an and that's the noise you get you need to get to it and move the wire away from the fan, the fan is used by the AC to measure the temps in the car

Hi Dave

thought it was something i could do, gave up and took it back to the garage and they confirmed your diagnosis, only they decided the fan was faulty and changed it under warranty. Its is so quiet now. It seems the air con is working more efficiently or am i getting carried away!? ;)
