Can anyone give me a clue the location of the horn on my 2008 1.6HDI Desire. I've decided to fit the air horns that I had on my previous motor, (it'll be a tight fit, but they will go) I know it's on the N/S of the engine compartment, as that's where the blast is coming from, but I can't see it. Just to be on the safe side, I'm going to use the original feed to feed a relay, always providing it's a live feed. But because I can't see it, & having been told where it's located by you guys, (hopefully) is it a twin wire feed & earth, or earth return through the mounting & a live feed to the horn when the contact is pressed. I don't have a diagram & Haynes aren't about to issue one either. Thanks in anticipation.

Hi guys.

The power feed to the horns on every Cit I've had so far was a 2 core wire with a double pole plug (Both pos & neg) which coupled straight to the horn(s) I fitted a pair of air horns to my 1st Xantia when the factory horn failed. This is what I did

  1. Crop off the horn plug and extend the live feed wire to power a relay. Use a "crimp" joint or solder & shrink sleeving for a safe job. Ignore the neg wire as it's no longer needed. Tape it up and forget it.
  2. Run a fused feed staight from the battery to the horn relay as a power supply.
  3. Earth the relay coil to the vehicle body to complete the primary circuit OR use the original neg from the horn feed wire if you so desire.
  4. Run the relay fed live to the horns (or horn air pump or whatever) and earth the return to the vehicle body.
  5. JOB DONE!

Cheers. Hope this helps.
