Guest Andrea Posted December 5, 2008 Posted December 5, 2008 again i'm asking silly questions, but this really is daft. i needed to put water in the screenwash this morning, after much fiddling about i found the catch to release the bonnet. but then i couldnt get the 'stand' down to hold the bonnet up (so i held it up with one hand and put the water in with the other). I could not for the life of me work out how to get the stand off its 'moorings' under the bonnet, and really didnt wanna tug at it too much in case i broke it....how do you do it! this is my first car btw, i used to think i was a clever person, but for the past day, this car has made me look nothing but stupid!....not to mention i tried to put water in the tyres last night   Quote
techbod Posted December 5, 2008 Posted December 5, 2008 the arm should only clip in at one end could it be frozen due to the bad weather? Quote
Guest Andrea Posted December 5, 2008 Posted December 5, 2008 the arm should only clip in at one end could it be frozen due to the bad weather? really not too sure, i dont think so, but tell me this, is the free end of the arm (ie the detachable bit) at the middle of the bonnet or on the right? maybe that's where my problem lies, not sure which end i should be wrestling with  Quote
techbod Posted December 5, 2008 Posted December 5, 2008 it will be the end as one side is locked in and the other will have a plastic clip holding it there ive been trying to get a picture of it for you but it seems to be hard to find Quote

Guest Andrea Posted December 5, 2008 Posted December 5, 2008 that's good its always better to familiarise your self with any new car and it only took me nearly 3 months to get round to it! Quote
techbod Posted December 5, 2008 Posted December 5, 2008 well a little advice then ( when you get a bloke assuming your female of course ) always check the depth of his heart before you commit to anything  same as buying a car they can be expensive when you don't  and vic-verca of course :) Quote
Martin_1973_uk Posted December 6, 2008 Posted December 6, 2008 So how do you check the depth of a guys heart when most of us don't have one!!!!!!!!! Water in the tyre's, I think you had better leave the technical stuff up to the guys, ha ha. Quote
ColinC1 Posted December 6, 2008 Posted December 6, 2008 Now you have sorted that, he, he. Here is a common problem, easily solved.... have a look at the engine bay after a rain downpour. Is the top of the engine full of rain water drips?, the battery?, the electrics?, the rest of the engine bay ? if so then you will have a poor seal along the back of the engine bay, that seals to the bonnet. The answer is silicon grease smeared along the lengh of the rubber seal in the engine bay. Use RS components tube of grease, part 494-124 or get some from a plumbers merchants. never use vasaline as that would rot the seal. I had this problem of a wet engine bay, but it is now dry as I smear some gease on every 6 months. Quote
