dixie Posted December 18, 2008 Posted December 18, 2008 hi guys,my speedo has stopped working on my 2.0 hdi, but it is still registering trip and total miles as usual.any ideas? thanks dixie..... Quote
Guest sirdrinksalot Posted December 18, 2008 Posted December 18, 2008 the speedo on my 2.2 hdi did this. Its terminal i think. i had the luck of getting a second hand one for £120. be aware that if you do this the higher mileage will register, and there is no way back. Quote

dixie Posted December 19, 2008 Author Posted December 19, 2008 thanks for the replys, i can do without a rev counter so i think i will go down that road for now, so does that mean i can buy a stepper motor later on after xmas from a scrappy and fit it to the rev counter and keep the correct mileage on the speedo as it has f.s.h. and all mot's ect. to back it up. thanks dixie.... dixie Posted December 22, 2008 Author Posted December 22, 2008 thanks coastline,i must read the replys more carefully in future, i now have my speedo working again  .but broke 3 of the white pins bending them to the side :( . thanks again for the great reply. cheers dixie...... Quote

njmac Posted June 19, 2010 Posted June 19, 2010 Hope it's OK to revive an old thread here? Thanks to this forum I managed to take a friend's speedo gauges out and swap over the stepper motor from the speedo to rev counter. So now his speedo is working again. Amazingly the garage here in Finland (we're both Brits living in Finland) declared that he'd need a new dash (at much more than £200 sterling) and said it would take a full day to do the work. literally thousands saved there. So now we have the rev counter stepper motor not working and I wonder of anyone has since found a way to order this part directly? Or would anyone have an idea of what other cars will have the same stepper motors so we can get a set of speedos from a scrappie and take a stepper motor from them? cheersNj Quote
Atitudejim Posted June 27, 2010 Posted June 27, 2010 i had the same problem with the stepper motor... but i was lucky enough to find a c5 in the scrapper and i took off both motors, 1 used it on my speedo and... job done.... at citroen was quoted around 400 pounds plus vat for the whole speedo as they dont sell the bits.. if anyone wants a replacement stepper motor... i can supply 1 for a decent price. I'd really appreciate first shout on that motor if possible mate as the rev counter isn't working just now and ebay sellers want to sell the full speedo unit, which is fair enoughcheersnj Quote
