brivic17 Posted January 6, 2009 Posted January 6, 2009 Hi all My wifes c1 rythhm has just turned 3 on the 29th dec, then on the 2nd jan, 4 days outside warrenty the air bag sign started to flash on and off. I wonder if anyone has any idea how to fix this problem. Cheers bri Quote
750Nig Posted January 6, 2009 Posted January 6, 2009 Get straight off to the Dealer and tell them it started on Christmas eve and you haven't been able to get there till now. Make sure they agree to fix it under warranty before letting them loose on it first tho'. I hope this isn't the start of many C1 Airbag light issues, it seems to have affected many many cars over the years. Quote

I will try breaking and make a few connections a and see if that works. Quote
750Nig Posted January 9, 2009 Posted January 9, 2009 Thats real mean. Disconnecting and reconnecting may make matters worse as 'the system' could think there is a permanent issue with the airbags. I've had a quick look see on an Aygo forum, one instance of Airbag light flashing, he took it to the dealers who reset 'the system' and all ok from then on. It seems (from the Aygo forum) that the airbag light also indicates possible issues with seatbelt pretensioners. Also tried looking on 107 OC forum but you have to be a member to search - lost interest then. IMO a trip to the dealer and get it plugged in to the diagnosis machine (probably £50-£60), get it reset and see if it comes up again. You could also lean over the techies shoulder whilst he is doing the check and find out where all the bits and pieces are, or in other words, be nice to him! Quote
flyor64 Posted October 12, 2009 Posted October 12, 2009 Similar issue, only mine is self-induced. I swapped out the driver seat for something a bit more supportive/comfortable, and in doing so, had to disconnect that side airbag. Anyone have any idea how I can bypass the airbag warning light. I realize I will be messing with the total airbag warning system if I try to just bypass the light. Would a dummy plug work perhaps? Complete the signal loop? Not sure if the warning system is based on this though... Any ideas are appreciated. Quote
techbod Posted October 12, 2009 Posted October 12, 2009 flashing airbag light mean the passenger air bag is turned off and often its down to the switch not making a good connection so try switching it off and on a few times. Quote

Thanks dave I'l try that. But just to be sure, the flashing light has nothing to do with the removal of the driver side airbag (and seat)? If so, that is great news! Quote
techbod Posted October 13, 2009 Posted October 13, 2009 removing the seat and airbag would depend on if you removed the battery negative only before you did the work, if you remove the live from the battery and not the negative that would put the light on because you haven't reset the SRS ( airbags )? up to do that only the negative has to be removed and the live remains connected, that's how to reset the SRS system. Unfortunately, in my haste, I did not disconnect the neg(-) when I removed the seat. I will try that now and see if I can reset it. Quote
