Guest Klock Posted January 14, 2009 Posted January 14, 2009 I seem to remember reading somewhere that with the C5 you should only use Citroen windscreen washer fluid as using other makes causes the washer pump play up. Has anybody experienced this or is it just another C5 myth? The reason I ask is with the recent cold weather I am getting fed up with no washers in the morning due to frozen fluid as I don't add anything to the water! Regards, Kevin. Quote

Regards, Kevin. It makes no difference to the washer pump what you put in as the pump just pumps a liquid and that is that. If it dosent clear the screen the change toa better grade wash after all you only get what you pay for so try Holts or halfords wash Quote

Yes I agree, a pump pumps a liquid and you get what you pay for in life. After a long time looking I found the thread on Yahoo C5-L forum relating to the problem or 'myth' I quoted. It looks like it turns out to be the valve that diverts fluid to either front or rear screen that can cause problems. The seals stick with reason given by Citroen as 'wrong' fluid. They quote 'standard' holts as a problem. Reason appears to be cheap additives used, so will use Soxnax etc although the thread talks about Halfords concentrated lemon scented as being OK. I was just trying to find out if this has been a common fault as currenly I do not use any additives but with current weather I'm fed up with having frozen washer fluid. Regards, Kevin. Quote
