Guest emy12 Posted January 22, 2009 Posted January 22, 2009 Hi all, I notice that one of the two core plugs is leaking ( at the head of the engine). Is possible to replace it without removing the head, noticed is not enough room without the head removed? try to find the cheapest way.Put some high temp strong glue around it but did not work. Has anyone experienced this problem?See the image attached, (not where the screwdriver directed to the oil seal) Thanks http://www.postimage.org/image.php?v=gx5kcji Quote
techbod Posted January 23, 2009 Posted January 23, 2009 you have to pry the old one out with a screwdriver then tap the new one in ( you could undo the engine mounts and jack the engine up to get at it better ) , there are other ways to install it like a small jack from the bulkhead to compress it in but room is the question Quote
Guest emy12 Posted January 23, 2009 Posted January 23, 2009 Thanks for replay. I think i ve to undo the two top engine mounts and the one underneath of the engine. Thanks Quote
techbod Posted January 23, 2009 Posted January 23, 2009 at least that's better than cylinder head removal and a lot cheaper " core plugs are very cheap " just make sure they are centered before you tap them in and ensure all the area is clean ;) Quote
