myke Posted February 18, 2009 Posted February 18, 2009 I have a 55 2 litre diesel Multispace. When accelerating and coming off the throttle around town I can just detect a whining noise. I have put this down to the turbo and it was not there when I first got the vehicle a few months ago. I did ask the garage but they said the mechanic put his stethoscope on (presumably the turbo) and said there was no problem. They did, however change both idler pulleys for the alternator etc as they said they were both gone. The noise is still there however. It is also evident when I rev it at standstill out of gear. As I said it is only just detectable but I dont want a bearing or something else to go after the warranty is out. Has anyone had this or are the turbo sometimes know for problems. The engine has only done 35,000. Quote
techbod Posted February 18, 2009 Posted February 18, 2009 interesting as this happens to many of the newer car and its down to the main auxiliary cog <_< on the serpentine belt system it has a suspension type rubber/bushing in it that's breaks down and vibrates and a new cog needs to be installed other faults are the serpentine tensioner Quote
CDPDesign Posted September 1, 2009 Posted September 1, 2009 I had same thing- the bearings had gone in the alternator... New alternator fixed it.. Quote
