Try your local autobody repair shops. They should know where to source repair panels and the cost thereof. As I have said before, Unless the corrosion has taken hold up around the suspension turrets the repairs could be fairly simple as the metal sections in front of the turret are fairly flat with simple bends (One plane) rather than compound curves. I had to have a bit of welding done on the lads 1.4 Elation in behind the NS headlamp which just involved cutting out the rusted part back to decent steel and welding in a patch about 8" x 4".

If you need better access, you will need to remove the lamps, bumper, (Plastic outer cover)and wings, The lamps are easily removed and the wings are held on by a few bolts. If you have a ZX haynes manual it will explain it all. If you can't get repair panels (Doubtfull!) then I would think they would be fairly easy to fabricate.

Cheers. Hope this helps.

I've just found this place Beevers Auto Parts and they seem to have a good quantity of parts. They may also know where repair panels can be purchased if they don't actually have them.

Cheers again

I am so happy got the old girl patched up, new MOT ! But not without some mishaps ............. bonnet flew open when the guy from the body shop took it for MOT test took ages for him to get new bonnet and bash dent out on the roof. ............. was worth the wait........ but got to replace back wheel bearings at some stage and looks as it may be tricky........ any pearls of wisdom .,..... ????

Hi again. Glad to hear you've got her back on the road again. Great Stuff! Re your rear wheel bearings, If my memory serves me correctly the Volcane has discs on the rear which are seperate from the hub. ( Lesser drum braked ZXs have the bearing in the drum) If you undo the "Staking" on the hub nut and undo the nut prior to jacking up the car, you'll be able to strip off the brake calliper and disc and see the hub. Undo the nut and the hub should come off the stub axle. It is then a case of taking the assembly to someone who has a press and can press out the old and press in the new bearing. Any decent independant garage or engineering workshop should be able to do it for you. Reassemble in reverse order and when the vehicle is back on the ground, do the nut up as tight as you can! There are totques quoted in manuals but get a long bar and "Dance" on the end and you won't be far away!

Cheers. Hope this helps!
