old'uns Posted March 6, 2009 Posted March 6, 2009 2.0hdi, may '02, 180k with 20-25k per year going on it.whats the rough mileage of things like clutch, alternator? rear suspension is a bit 'loose', shock absorbers? bushes? i'll probably get fluid changed in summeri've had rear discs changed, fronts are imminent i think, on 3rd crank pulley since 100k, back box replaced, middle section being done next week ( repair section not cat), tyres i tend to wreck not wear out (app 12 in 4 years) & h/l bulbs probably 8? MAF last year have i missed anything? plan is to run it into ground, its looking a bit battered & bruised, a real workhorse :) Quote
myglaren Posted March 7, 2009 Posted March 7, 2009 There are no 'shock absorbers' as such - damping is achieved by regulating the passage of LDS in and out of the spheres. It may be, as you suggest, the bushes, it could also be the rear spheres are due for replacement but they do have very long lives compared to the previous Xantia/BX/Xm/CX etc types.Could also be the rams - hopefully not, due to the cost of replacing them. Not as bad as Activa rams but still :) A simple thing to check is the rear suspension arm bearings, a weak point with PSA vehicles. With the car on level ground and suspension on normal, look at the car from behind. If the rear wheels are /---\ then the bearings are shot and need replacing. This condition is usually accompanied by groaning noises from the rear. Quote
old'uns Posted March 7, 2009 Author Posted March 7, 2009 oops :) forgot they don't have shocks!its very clunky , as in little damping & feels like its 'topping out', seems as though it's jumping around side to siderear beam angles look ok, strangely enough i need to replace d/s rear tyre as it's worn on outer edge? myglaren Posted March 7, 2009 Posted March 7, 2009 In that case I would suspect the bushes as you suggested, or possibly a wheel bearing with too much play in it. Quote
Randombloke Posted March 7, 2009 Posted March 7, 2009 its very clunky , as in little damping & feels like its 'topping out', seems as though it's jumping around side to side Spheres tired and need recharging or replacement? They can be tested and recharged by an indy, OEM will only replace. kfk or iannez posted a simple lean on test for them somewhere on this forum. Height sensors/correctors stuck meaning car is running slightly too high and hence overly hard suspension? Quote
