Don Posted July 17, 2009 Posted July 17, 2009 4 years ago, I had my cruise contol switch replaced by my local citroen dealer. This, I believe has to have the steering wheel "loosened or removed" 'because of the airbag etc.???? Two days ago (15th). it failed its MOT on this one thing. I booked it in to the dealer that fixed the switch. I have to say that their explanation was " its only a loose steering wheel, and we will fix it for you at a cost of £47.00 all in". :) When I pointed out it was last removed by them 4 years ago (me looking for 'sympathy' etc!) they mentioned that it "was 4 whole years since the work was done, and it had passed three MOT's"! I have had many cars since I passed my test. (1967) and I can say that i have NEVER ever experienced a loose steering wheel....EVER! Has any else????Don. :( Quote
kfk Posted July 17, 2009 Posted July 17, 2009 Yup.....i've found plenty of loose nuts behind the steering wheel :) Quote
iannez Posted July 17, 2009 Posted July 17, 2009 we get quite a few faults also due to the nut behind the wheel. :) :( when the steering wheel was removed they most probably didnt re-apply any locktight and it will have slowley worked its self loose. £47 on top of the test fee just to tighten a steering wheel is a bit excessive.
