PeterM Posted November 12, 2005 Posted November 12, 2005 Problem is seam to be using water but no leaks to be found water pump ok and engine is running well no smoke no over heating. Fill coolant up run for 10 miles warning light comes on water level low in tank but if open water returns to fall levels change cap on tank and still dose it. Any ideas of what to do next I think it is something to do with when the engine is running and the pressure builds up in the tank it can't escape dropping the water level and then the warning light comes on. Help is needed garage dose not seem to no. Please help me out. Thanks Pete. Quote

SHREK288 Posted February 23, 2008 Posted February 23, 2008 MMMMMmmmmmMine went through this scenario, new cylinder head, car was out of warranty, cured problem, and dented finances cylinder head alone £1k. Ouch !Hi Guys, Just bought a 110 HDI exclusive 2nd hand. Have a smiliar problem I think. Although my milage seems to be a lot better than those quoted. Just drove Wolverhampton to Plymouth approx 210 miles low coolant level only came on when i arrived at Plymouth. No loss of power at any time and no white or grey clouds of smoke out of the exhaust? no over heating either seems a bit strange to have a warped head but no obvious problems apart from coolant loss?Mind you i am no automotive expert Regards SHREK Quote
Randombloke Posted February 23, 2008 Posted February 23, 2008 I might be wrong but - Fill up coolant level to the right amount. Start engine from cold and look for bubbles coming up in the expansion tank with the cap off. Bubbles = head is Donald Ducked. YMMV. Quote
