Hi,

ZX Leader 1.9 diesel. Really need washers in the current weather and mine have just give up.

The jets were not putting the water as far up the windscreen as usual; thought it might be a blockage, so blasted back from the jets with an airline. Seemed ok. Water in bottle bubbling. Tried the washers and they came back full on for a few moments and then died in silence. Haven't checked fuse yet, but rather think the motor has bust.

Has anyone replaced the motor. The bottle is tucked way down the bulkhead with just the filler cap and neck showing. Can see that the cover full width just below the windscreen needs to come off, but does anyone know the process from then on.

Also any ideas on cost of new motor, or is there an alternative?

Not entirely sure of how to get at the bottle, it might be behind the wheelarch liner, but once you're there the motor/pump unit just clips out of the recess in the bottle with the hole sealed by a small rubber grommet ring. It serves both front & rear screens so be sure to connect the hoses properly or you'll get the water going the wrong way. The pump unit is pretty standard and shouldn't cost more than a few pounds. Even less if you can get one from a breaker.

Cheers. Hope this helps.

The ZX is like the Pug 306 in many ways. If the washer system is the same, it's off with the driver's side wheel and the wheel arch liner off. You may even find that the filler neck screw out of the washer bottle, although you can remove the pump without removing the bottle.
