Hello all. I haven't posted anything for a while which I guess is good as the old girl's been running pretty nicely. Anyhow, last night I tried to eject a CD from the player (the dash mounted one, not the changer) and all that happend was a clicking noise for 10 secs or so and no CD. It seems well and truly stuck in, and will not play either. No previous problems whatsoever with it, except it did seem to get rather hot after a lengthy play - the CD comes out very warm.

Anyone come across this? Also, any tips for removal of the unit so I can have a look or send it off for repairs?

The car is a 2003 2.2HDi Exclusive estate with standard stereo plus cd changer under the driver's seat.

Thanks

Does the radio still work or is it stuck in CD function ?

I think I'd disconnect trhe battery ( follow the procedure detailed elsewhere ) and see if it comes out when it powers up

Removal is easy - prise off the two plastic trims either side of the radio (they surround the oval buttons)

then it's 2 torx screws to release.

May be worth trying to take the casing off and retrieve the disc, clean up the mechanism and reconnect, see if it works? Don't know how easy that would be. Not sure who would repair the older ones now.

There won't be a problem with coding - the unit is hard coded to your car.

Thanks for all replies. I eventually got the CD out by pressing down on the front of the slot when it was tryng to eject. I never expected this to work and almost did it by accident. However, I am now a little suspicious of the dash mounted player and am tending to use the changer instead which seems to run a lot cooler and seems to be better quality. I'm sure the tips on how to remove the radio/cd player will be useful when something eventually goes a bit more seriously wrong with it, so thanks for them.
