I have a 2005 C5 Mk2 VTR 2ltr, and I find that there is no way to use the Radio when the Engine has been switched off, there used to an intermediate position for the Ign key on the Mk1. I can unly use it for about 2mins and then it goes off, then I have to restart the engine, does anone know how to overcome this please?????

Not really an answer as I have a Mk1 but my radio will work with no key in for 45 minutes, after which it goes into economy mode and everything electrical is turned off bar the central locking.

I imagine your problem is that economy mode is cutting in too soon.

It may be possible to reprogram this with a Lexia.

Measure the battery voltage when the radio goes off. Is the battery getting tired? Measure the battery voltage when the engine is running, and also when it is off but the radio is off.

The car goes into eco mode to protect the battery from becoming drained to the point where the car will not start. Either the radio is draining too much current, the battery is tired or has already been suggested, the eco setting is not correct.

Personally I would simply buy one of the £15 LED voltmeters that plug into the cigarette lighter or the auxiliary outlet that stays on after the car is turned off, and monitor battery voltage.
