Lidders Posted June 19, 2010 Posted June 19, 2010 Hi, I have an 'X' Reg Xsara 5 Door 2ltr HDI,I am trying to change the Drivers side side light, this is a face-lift model, the manual shows where the bulb is, but as anyone who has looked into this will know, it's not easy to get to. I am wonderring if the washer bottle spout is able to be pulled out, this would make access much easier, does anyone know if this is possible? Quote
Johndouglas Posted June 19, 2010 Posted June 19, 2010 My daughter has an 02 Xsara which I look after and I find that it's just about possible to change headlight bulbs from under the bonnet. To reach the sidelight bulbs I've had to remove the bumper then unbolt the light units. In addition to removing the bumper, the cross rail needs to come off the reach the bottom bolt. Lidders Posted June 21, 2010 Author Posted June 21, 2010 Thanks John, I hoped it would not come to that, how long (Roughly does it take to get to the point where I can actually change the bulbs - I'll do both side lights as i'm doing all this)? Quote
Johndouglas Posted June 21, 2010 Posted June 21, 2010 I'll do both side lights as i'm doing all this)? Yes - certainly do both sides. You'll need a good couple of hours. My C5 also needs the bumper removed and since I've had to replace the sidelights twice in 18 months, this last time I've replaced with LEDs. More expensive but hopefully worth it. Quote
Lidders Posted June 22, 2010 Author Posted June 22, 2010 Thanks for youe help so far.I am currently trying to get the bumper off, I have removed all screws & Bolts (3 off), but the bumper appears to be clipped to the wing/chassis in various locations, does anyone know the procedure for actually removing the bumper, any help would be much appreciated. Johndouglas Posted June 22, 2010 Posted June 22, 2010 I find it helps to have the front wheels raised. Under the bonnet remove the top of the grill. Remove the three screws underneath. Remove the screw holding the wheel arch liner to the bumper. There are two more each side holding the bumper to the body. The bumper is now held by a clip each side. Pull the bumper forward then outwards and it will release. If you have foglights fitted they will also need disconnecting. Having got the bumper off, there's a cross member held by two bolts that will need to be removed to reach the bottom headlight bolt. Quote
