Guest Peter in Chichester Posted June 19, 2010 Posted June 19, 2010 The message BRAKE FLUID LEVEL LOW came on the info screen and the brake disc (handbrake on) symbol showed red together with STOP. Checked the brake fluid reservoir and it was full and could find no other problems with brakes so concluded that it must be a sensor/warning light problem. The MOT was due so I booked the car in with my local Citroen main dealer and asked them to look into it. The car passed the MOT and they confirmed that the braking system was all ok. The MOT advice section helpfully pointed out that the warning message was displayed even though all was OK. They offered to try and find the fault by testing the wiring etc at their standard rate of £90 per hour. I said I'd get back to them. Can anyone help with this please. Is there a sensor for the brake fluid reservoir that can be tested or replaced? Quote
Johndouglas Posted June 19, 2010 Posted June 19, 2010 Is there a sensor for the brake fluid reservoir? There's a level sensor at the bottom of the reservoir but your trouble may only be the wiring connector that's slightly corroded. Quote

Thanks John - I found it and pulled the plug off and it looks pretty clean. Put it back and wiggled it a bit but warning still there. Do you know if the sensor can be tested and replaced if necessary or is it part of the reservoir so that the reservoir must be replaced? Quote

RESULT!! - had another go - unplugged and and wiggled the two wires again and warning no longer shows. Thanks very much for your advice. Quote
