StevieOMG Posted July 15, 2010 Posted July 15, 2010 Hi all. Have just found this forum and wonder whether anyone can offer me any advice. I have an 03 LX diesel estate. Recently, the rear suspension has been dropping when parked up. When I unlock the doors it returns to normal. Park up for any length of time and it reminds me of the old BX I used to have. When engine is running its fine. Rear boot switch works fine as does the switch to move up and down through the suspension system. Any ideas greatly received StevieOMG Quote

StevieOMG Posted July 22, 2010 Author Posted July 22, 2010 I had that and the garage told me they changed a rear strut as the fluid was leaking past the seals .I think you can pull off the fluid return pipe to check Dave. Many thanks, apologies for slow response. Is this an expensive repair and can it be down by an ordinary garage or does it need to be done by a stealer or independant. Many thanks Quote
DaveHerns Posted July 25, 2010 Posted July 25, 2010 Mine was done by a main dealer as the car was on a lease but I don't see why a good indie couldn't do it Quote
tonyk Posted July 26, 2010 Posted July 26, 2010 I had a similar problem with my 2004 MK1 2.0HDI Saloon with 139K miles. Back end sinking after a few hours also what i expected from reading the forum was leaking rear struts. The rear suspension was a bit harder than normal which i had put down to large pot holes in our area due to the extremly bad winter. However the leak on the offside strut was in fact overspill from the neck of the fuel tank which empties some where above the strut. Fortunately I had some spare rear spheres which i had bought off Ebay at an irristable price - (i had already replaced failed front spheres at 125K, so suspected rear would need replacing soon) As soon as i replaced the spheres the suspension was restored to normal just like the old BX type fault. The local independent Citroen garage i had phoned had pointed to possible failed Strut so im glad i had just tried this out myself as the exersise only cost me aout £75 including 2 ltrs of Fluid Quote
